About Whats In Your Lunch Box

WIYLBOX was formed with the mission to affect positive changes on the futures of children and their wellness, including those children impacted by the autism epidemic. WIYLBOX was formed in response to the findings of poor nutrition in the special needs populations by the American Dietetic Association.

WIYLBOX has developed no-cost comprehensive education and training programs focused on diet, nutrition, adaptive physical activity and advocacy. The programs are interdisciplinary, interactive, preventive, family centered, community based, culturally competent and are delivered within existing networks that provide services for families in underserved and low income communities.

WIYLBOX is the only organization in Los Angeles to deliver no-cost nutrition programs of this magnitude to families of children with ASD. WIYLBOX provides services with its live direct nutrition education and training and with its online presence, to empower Parents and improve the health and well-being of children. WIYLBOX hosts community education and training workshops on diet and nutrition, exercise & advocacy for Parents of children with Autism. Workshops are bi-lingual and offered at no-cost to families from underserved communities.

About Migdal Ohr

Migdal Ohr (Hebrew for Tower of Light) was established in 1972 for the express purpose of providing education and social guidance to the children from underprivileged and troubled homes from across Israel. Overcrowded apartments, one-parent families, homes with drug problems, impoverished, crime-ridden families–these are the target populations from which Migdal Ohr draws its over 6,000 pupils at all levels of the educational spectrum.

The Israel Childrens Cancer Foundation (ICCF) has raised more than five million dollars since its founding ten years ago. About PTA (Parents Teachers Association)

The National PTA (National Congress of Parents and Teachers) is a volunteer educational organization, founded in Washington, D.C., in 1897. The Community Concerns Commission deals primarily with concerns within the school and community that affect children and their families such as alcohol and drug abuse, driving safety, bullying, Internet safety, waste reduction, and violence prevention.

The Health Commission works to promote effective health education programs in schools and communities that offer children, youth, and families skills to make healthy choices. Through legislative action, the Health Commission advocates for statewide health programs for children, youth, and families. Commission members serve on various statewide committees that address mental health, physical health, and environmental health issues.

District PTAs, Councils of PTAs/PTSAs, and Unit PTAs are established to carry out its programs with the purposes of conference, leadership training, coordination of efforts of member units, and planning programs and activities to meet local community needs. Branches of the National PTA have been established in all 50 United States, the District of Columbia, U.S. Virgin Islands, and in schools for American dependents in Europe and the Pacific area.

About Helping Hand Home for Children

For 116 years, Helping Hand Home for Children has provided a place to heal for abused, neglected and abandoned children. The Home provides residential treatment services, foster care, adoption services, and a charter school for emotionally disturbed children and advocates for greater public support of early prevention, intervention, and treatment.

The Home is the oldest continuously operating residential childcare agency in Travis County, a priceless resource kept strong and viable through community support. Their mission is to maintain a therapeutic home for children and to restore each child to a healthy family setting. Their goal is for the children to take responsibility for their own actions, leave with a sense of worth, improve their academic skills and gain an increased sense of trust.

The Home residential treatment component has been designed specifically for children between the ages of four and thirteen who have experienced severe physical, sexual, and emotional trauma. One of only a few treatment centers in the United States dedicated to serving young children; their therapeutic milieu has been crafted to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children who have experienced the darker side of childhood.

Barak Raviv Foundation Donates Plane to Flying Scouts

On Sunday, February 7th 2016, young aspiring flyers were given a new reason to pursue their dreams of flying. The Barak Raviv Foundation donated a Cessna 172 to the Air Explorers of Kitty Hawk Squadron 3, a youth program that promotes flight education for ages 14 to 21. A representative from Congressman Brad Sherman’s office was in attendance to present Mr. Raviv with a certificate to honor everything he has done to inspire and encourage the pursuit of flight in Southern California.

The students and their instructors were on hand to receive the newest addition to their flight school. “The Air Explorers opened up a world of adventure for me, and my dream has always been to repay them,” says Barak Raviv, founder of the Barak Raviv Foundation. “My goal is to see these kids have the same opportunities that I had when I was learning to fly.”

Kitty Hawk Squadron 3 was founded in 1951 and is dedicated to providing flight training to young men and women. Flight instructors volunteer their time to teach the Explorers how to fly and the costs are almost fully subsidized by the North Hollywood Optimist Club. Through its flight education program, the group promotes a set of values to inspire the kids to become upstanding model citizens. Kitty Hawk Squadron 3 has enabled hundreds of its members to obtain their private pilot certificates, some as young as 17. Many of these students have continued to pursue careers in the military, charter airlines, and commercial aviation.
