About Basset Hound Rescue of Southern California
Basset Hound Rescue was formed out of the need to find homes for an increasing number of basset hounds living in shelters in Southern California. The organization is staffed entirely by volunteers, who assist with placement and re-homing of bassets from one family to another, and with owner surrenders. Through donations and fund-raising, the volunteers are able to manage on just a $30,000-a-year budget.
Basset Hound Rescue publishes three newsletters annually and delivers close to one thousand hard copies of the newsletter to its supporters. The Rescue also produces three yearly fundraisers, including its yard sale, the Basset Spring Games, and the annual Howlelujah Chorus.
