About American Health Assistance Foundation

The American Health Assistance Foundation (AHAF) is an organization that funds research seeking cures for Alzheimer’s disease, age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma, and provides the public with information about risk factors, preventative lifestyles, available treatments and coping strategies.

AHAF’s three programs are Alzheimer’s Disease Research, Macular Degeneration Research and National Glaucoma Research. We disseminate vital information to the public, especially those affected by these age-related degenerative diseases, through our website, print publications, as well as TV and radio Public Service Announcements (PSAs).

Our aim is to educate people about risk factors, the latest research, treatment options, risk reduction through healthy lifestyles, and ways to cope with the effects of these diseases.

About Interfaith Care Alliance (AIDS Ride)

The Care Communities was formed by dedicated people of faith who wanted to provide practical and compassionate support to those living with AIDS in the Austin area. As TCC grew, it expanded its focus to include cancer. It provides practical and compassionate support through volunteer Care Teams for people with serious illness, so that no one will face a serious illness alone without the loving care of a community to sustain everyday living. TCC believes that a team of caring people can provide more support than one person and that sharing support makes care possible.

Some additional core beliefs of The Care Communities are that people should feel free to be who they are and express themselves openly, that everyone deserves honestly and integrity, that miracles happen every day when someone cares for another, and that heroes are born through the smallest acts of care.

Finally, The Care Communities believe that people facing a serious illness have support from power higher than their own, and that in facing AIDS or cancer there is strength in numbers, comfort in care and hope in support!

About Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome Network

The Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome Network Inc. is a volunteer self help, not for profit support group for people and families dealing with Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome (HPS) and related disorders such as Chediak Higashi Syndrome. Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome (HPS) is a genetic metabolic disorder which causes albinism, visual impairment, and a platelet dysfunction with prolonged bleeding. Founded in 1992 the HPS Network’s mission is to gather and disseminate information, to promote awareness and research, and to provide support to members.

They actively developing educational materials, pamphlets, slides, and articles to help both families and professionals understand the needs created by this syndrome. HPS Network also maintains a client registry to assist with networking individuals, with each other and with medical research and operate a toll free number for access and to register families when they call.

About CFIDS Association

The CFIDS (Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome) Association of America is the largest organization of its kind dedicated to researching, diagnosing and treating Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, or CFS. The Association leads several annual initiatives aimed at disseminating accurate information about CFS, which includes interacting with patients, doctors, the general public, media outlets, legislators and public health officials.

Since its formation in 1987, the Association has consistently led national efforts aimed at promoting the understanding of CFS through research, diagnosis, early detection and treatment.  It has also influenced public policy surrounding CFS.

About Magen David Adom

Magen David Adom (MDA) was officially chartered and recognized as an emergency lifesaving service as a result of the murderous riots of 1929, when Jewish farm and urban settlements were attacked by the Arab population, and were found to be lacking in even the most elementary first aid services. It was founded in Tel Aviv on June 7, 1930, by a group of seven Israeli doctors, as a one-room emergency medical service. MDA’s first home was a dilapidated hut on the corner of Rothschild and Nahalat Benyamin streets in what was then the center of town.

Subsequently, MDA has played a major role in providing vital lifesaving services during each of Israel’s wars, skirmishes and terrorist attacks, as well as in times of peace. The growing need and developing population of the new state brought about a parallel growth in MDA. New branches and first aid stations sprang up throughout the country. The first modern ambulances were purchased, and the society’s blood, first aid and first aid instruction services were expanded.

AIDS Project Los Angeles is dedicated to: improving the lives of people affected by HIV disease; reducing the incidence of HIV infection; and advocating for fair and effective HIV-related public policy.

Fundraising to support programs at AIDS Project Los Angeles has been central to the organization’s growth from the very beginning.

APLA’s four founders — Max Drew, Nancy Cole Sawaya, Matt Redman and Erv Munro — knew that their fledgling organization would require the financial support of their community of friends and family. In December of 1982, they held the first APLA fundraiser, which raised over $7,000. Since its first fundraiser, APLA has raised millions of dollars for people living with or at risk of HIV/AIDS, through the generosity of corporations, foundations, and individuals like you.

Creative and determined volunteers have been responsible for setting up dozens of fundraising events, from the small to the enormous, from the elegant to the unusual — including premiere screenings, theater benefits, art openings, photography exhibits, fashion events and special concerts.

WIYLBOX was formed with the mission to affect positive changes on the futures of children and their wellness, including those children impacted by the autism epidemic. WIYLBOX was formed in response to the findings of poor nutrition in the special needs populations by the American Dietetic Association.

WIYLBOX has developed no-cost comprehensive education and training programs focused on diet, nutrition, adaptive physical activity and advocacy. The programs are interdisciplinary, interactive, preventive, family centered, community based, culturally competent and are delivered within existing networks that provide services for families in underserved and low income communities.

WIYLBOX is the only organization in Los Angeles to deliver no-cost nutrition programs of this magnitude to families of children with ASD. WIYLBOX provides services with its live direct nutrition education and training and with its online presence, to empower Parents and improve the health and well-being of children. WIYLBOX hosts community education and training workshops on diet and nutrition, exercise & advocacy for Parents of children with Autism. Workshops are bi-lingual and offered at no-cost to families from underserved communities.
